This installation plays with the inherent human need to create meaning in everything we face, and propose a non-rational, intuitive approach to the creation of meaning.

I am! I want! I'm looking for!, are some outbursts and shouts you are greeted with when you enter the sound installation Bird on the wire at Halmtorvet in Copenhagen. The sound of moaning men who, while shouting, performing what must be physically strenuous activities, comes from a sound system turned up so high that the sound fills the room. One of the men suddenly shouts, Bird on the wire! The others reply Oh no!, and all activity stops. All that remains is what mimics the floor of a sports hall and a wine bar interior.
Pictures of people in a holiday resort-setting, holding or pointing at portraits of football players from EfB, Esbjergs first league men's football team. The sponsor logo on the players´shirts is replaced with the silhouette of a bird on a cable. The statement Bird on the wire!, thus, doesn't just hang suspended in the air. It lives in the room through the shift to visual sign and its permanent anchoring on the walls.
The work points to the complex relationship between our horizon of expectations, decoding system and the production of meaning.
The installation thus challenges the codes, structures and spatial contexts that we commonly use to make sense of the world and put in systems. The exhibition thus reflects the artist's stated aim of promoting a non-rational and more intuitive approach to creating meaning.
